GENERAL
How many accounts are needed?
- A minimum of 2. An OOC account is required to keep things organised, and one account per character. We require each character to have their own account for clarity and organisation, that way it reduces confusion regarding who is posting with which character.
Is there a limit to the number of characters I can have?
- No. We do not limit the number of characters any one person can play, however, we do require you to be aware of them all and keep them active. Know your limits and do not over-do it.
Do you have a minimum 'words per post'?
- There is nothing worse than single-lined responses when you have written paragraphs. We push for members to try and make two decent paragraphs minimum per reply as much as they can. If you're struggling to bulk out your posts try describing the appearances of things, your character's surroundings, how they are feeling and reacting to the situation. We like to see our writers flourish here, so try and push your boundaries.
What animals can I play?
- Asperio is an all animal roleplay site, however, there may be temporary bans in place if there are too many of a single species in play. See our Species Guide for more information.
Do other animals have mutations?
- We allow all playable characters to have mutations of the writer's choice, but if it is just a general hare, deer or something that is being hunted, no.
CHARACTERS
Can my character have any appearance I want?
- Yes and no. We don't want to limit your imagination, but we don't want ridiculous-looking animals running around with mutations that don't work together, or with every and any mutation you can think of on them.
We ask you to think carefully about the mutations you want your characters to have; want one who can breathe in water; then gills, maybe fins and scales. Want one that can fly; wings, light bones, feathers. Think, it's not hard.
Is there a limit to the mutations allowed?
- There is only so much one character should be able to do, even in a fantasy world, so in that sense, yes. We do not need flying, invisible, fire-breathing, mermaid-wolf-cats wandering around. It makes things unfair on other players and characters and would make the ability to control all of the mutations and abilities rather hard as some may counteract others.
We will not tell you which mutations you can and cannot have, but we hope that you are able to make a decent choice on their combination on a single character.
How do I get my mutations?
- Good question. Some will say that the mutations are a blessing, others a curse. Really we haven't defined how one gets their mutations, we can leave that down to your imagination. If you choose to have your character be born with it, it could be natural selection, or you could choose to be one who believed that Asperio has blessed or cursed you and your family.
- A character does not have to be born with mutations to gain them, they can get them at any point, but build up to it. Don't just be a normal animal one day then have huge wings and the ability to fly the next. No. Go along the lines of saying that they notice some bumps which over time sprout into little wings that grow.
Once a character has mutations, can they then be passed on to offspring?
- Yes, once the mutations and skills or other 'gifts' have been bestowed upon a character it is theirs unless taken away. Which means when producing offspring there are chances of the children carrying the same mutations as their parents.
How do we know where our characters come from?
- Your character's backstory can show that your family unit held claim to a single named 'territory' upon the map. This would be their home base and their own territory, thus making this area claimed. If, however, a Guild is formed and they wish to occupy that space the family unit occupying it will have the choice of either joining the guild forming, leaving or fighting for the rights to the grounds.
Can I play fantasy or prehistoric creatures?
Wedo not allow prehistoric creatures to be played on Asperio at this point in time, however we will allow fantasy creatures like Unicorn, Hippogriff etc, as well as player-made species like Quilldogs and Peafoxes.
Can predator PCs attack and hunt prey PCs?
Unless there has been a plan put in place, there is to be no deliberate hunting of prey PCs. There can be a matter of the hunter not realising that the animal they are hunting is a PC, but once it is established that animal cannot be hunted.
Now, there can be a setting where both the predator(s) and prey agree that they want a showdown and then it can be observed that a hunt may take place. This will be outside normal hunting parameters, as this prey animal can willingly fight back and harm the predator, whereas non-PC prey will generally flee.
All-in-all special permission must be granted and the thread(s) will have a marker on them to make others aware of the encounter.
FACTIONS
Does my character have to join a Faction?
- No, we allow rogues as well as it adds another dimension to the roleplaying and actions. You may choose to start out as a rogue and join a faction later on or join a faction straight out. Do note that if there are too high a number of Rogues, there may be a ban, so do be aware.
How can I form a Faction?
- In order to create a Faction of your own there are a number of requirements that need to be met; a number of 'followers', a predetermined area of land to start off in, territories and other things. See 'Faction Guide' for more information.
What happens if the territory we want is already taken by another Faction or a family unit?
- As mentioned above, if a family unit occupies the territory that a Faction wishes to claim they can Fight for it, join the guild or leave. As for another guild that would end up being a fight, what's known as a 'Turf War'. These fights will be regulated threads and moderated by the staff.
